Decorare l’albero di Natale, fare shopping\u00a0in cerca di regali, passare del tempo con la famiglia e gli amici, cucinare biscotti e attardarsi attorno alla tavola imbandita: per tutti questi motivi (ma non solo) Natale \u00e8 la pi\u00f9 magica festivit\u00e0 dell’anno!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ma come parlare in inglese del Natale? Oggi impareremo alcuni termini e le frasi fondamentali per parlare del periodo pi\u00f9 bello dell’anno, addobbare\u00a0l’albero con luci e decori e anche per dare e ricevere regali!<\/p>\n

Merry<\/strong><\/em> (aggettivo) \u2013 Cheerful and lively<\/em>; in altre parole “allegro, vivace, gioioso”.<\/p>\n

E.g. Eat, drink, and be merry!<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

Grinch<\/em><\/strong> (nome) \u2013 Una parola che deriva dal personaggio nato dalla penna del Dr. Seuss e protagonista del libro per bambini Il Grinch<\/em>\u00a0(in inglese\u00a0How the Grinch stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss<\/em>).<\/em> Oggi il termine descrive qualcuno che\u00a0<\/em>non ama le persone che festeggiano e si divertono in occasione del Natale.<\/p>\n

E.g. Federico hates Christmas music and he won’t let me listen to it at the office, he can be such a grinch.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wrap presents<\/strong><\/em> (verbo)\u00a0\u2013 Impacchettare i regali con carta da regalo, fiocchi e fiocchini!<\/p>\n

E.g.\u00a0We spent all day wrapping presents so they would look beautiful under the christmas tree.<\/em><\/p>\n

Christmas stocking<\/strong><\/em> (nome) \u2013 Si tratta di una cosa (e un’usanza) non cos\u00ec tipica in Italia ma assai diffusa all’estero: una grande calza che i bimbi appendono (di solito al caminetto) affinch\u00e9 sia\u00a0riempita di piccoli doni, dolcetti e caramelle.<\/p>\n
