Use to<\/em>\u00a0e would<\/em> in inglese sono entrambi usati per la Past Narration ma le differenze che li contraddistinguono, spesso non sono cos\u00ec immediate agli occhi di chi studia inglese da poco tempo. Il punto da cui partire \u00e8, appunto, che entrambe le forme si utilizzano per descrivere azioni, situazioni ed eventi accaduti nel passato.<\/strong> Qualche volta si utilizzano in maniera intercambiabile; altre volte ci sono differenze chiare e precise fra le due espressioni.<\/p>\n\n

Quando si usa Used to<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

  • Per descrivere azioni che si sono ripetute nel passato<\/strong> ma che al momento non si verificano pi\u00f9<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    E.g. I used to go to the beach all the time when I lived in Los Angeles.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

    • Pu\u00f2 essere usato con verbi di stato e dinamici:\u00a0love<\/em>, feel<\/em>, like<\/em>, hate<\/em>, have<\/em>, be<\/em>, live<\/em>, know<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      E.g. I used to know how to play the piano.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

      • Per cose che erano vere nel ‘passato ma che non lo sono pi\u00f9, adesso<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        E.g. Lisa used to have long blond hair when she was a teenager.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

        • L’interrogativa si forma con Did<\/em><\/strong> + subject<\/em><\/strong> + use to<\/em><\/strong> + base verb<\/em><\/strong>…?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          E.g. Did you use to play a lot of video games when you were a child?<\/em><\/p>\n\n

          • La forma negativa \u00e8 didn’t use to<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            E.g. I didn’t use to like olives, but now I love them.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

                • Per enfatizzare la nostalgia verso determinate memorie e ricordi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  As a child I would wear a fun costume every Halloween.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

                      E.g. I would never<\/strong> play sports as a child as I prefered books.<\/em><\/p>\n\n
