Il comandante americano a Berlino disse al Presidente che il discorso era <strong>&#8220;terrible&#8221;<\/strong> e il presidente fu\u00a0d\u2019accordo.<br \/>\nCominci\u00f2, quindi, a preparare un nuovo discorso ispirato a una frase latina <strong>\u201ccivis Romanus sum\u201d<\/strong> (\u201csono un cittadino romano\u201d). Un tempo questa frase era la cosa pi\u00f9 nobile che una persona potesse dire e affermare di essere un berlinese con la famosa frase \u201cIch bin ein Berliner\u201d (\u201csono un berlinese\u201d),[su_highlight background=&#8221;#d5dbfe&#8221;]mostr\u00f2 la profondit\u00e0 dell\u2019alleanza fra gli Stati Uniti e il governo della Germania ovest.[\/su_highlight]\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nonostante non parlasse il tedesco, Kennedy disse due volte, con un forte accento del Massachusetts, \u201cIch bin ein Berliner\u201d, \u201cIo sono un berlinese\u201d. I want to say, on behalf of my countrymen, who live many miles away on the other side of the Atlantic, who are far distant from you, that they take the greatest pride that they have been able to share with you, even from a distance, the story of the last 18 years. I know of no town, no city, that has been besieged for 18 years that still lives with the vitality and the force, and the hope and the determination of the city of West Berlin. While the wall is the most obvious and vivid demonstration of the failures of the Communist system, for all the world to see, we take no satisfaction in it, for it is, as your Mayor has said, an offense not only against history but an offense against humanity, separating families, dividing husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, and dividing a people who wish to be joined together.<\/p>\n<p><em>La libert\u00e0 ha molte difficolt\u00e0 e la democrazia non \u00e8 perfetta. You live in a defended island of freedom, but your life is part of the main.
